En 2025, Roger Mertens remporte une double victoire avec le 1er Prov. La Souterraine et le 1er Prov. Valence II Limbourg (vieux) 

Roger Mertens a réalisé un exploit rare en remportant deux victoires provinciales le même jour. Parmi les trois concours nationaux prévus, il n’a pas participé à Pau, mais a brillé sur La Souterraine et Valence II. 

Saison 2025 solide avec des résultats sur les grands classiques

“Luca” : Le porte-drapeau du colombier
Au colombier de Roger Mertens, un pigeon se distingue depuis des années : “LUCA” (BE19-5071448). Ce mâle a brillé depuis 2021 avec notamment :
1 – 6 – 7 – 8 – 10 – 15 – 16 – 24 – 25 au niveau provincial.
Il descend du célèbre “Radja”, invaincu sur 14 concours de fond avec une 1re prov. Angoulême 2018 sous 38°C.

Avec ce doublé, Roger Mertens confirme sa place parmi les meilleurs amateurs de fond du Limbourg. La qualité constante de ses pigeons fait de lui un nom incontournable en 2025.
